Reading Assignment 1

Pip meets the convict in the churchyard and he demands that bring him back a file and wittles (food). Pips relationship with his sister is one that is filled with abuse. His sister feels as if Pip is a huge burden and that if he wouldn't have been her responsibility her life would be better. Unlike his relationship with his sister, his relationship with Joe Gargery is a good one. Joe is pretty much Pips only true friend. He is kind and respectful to Pip, most likely because he is treated the same way by Mrs. Gargery. Pip doesn't know what to throw in the bag of food for the convict so frantically he takes some liquor and replaces it with tar water and also takes the family's pork pie.
